      Field Position: Overseas Educator<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>

      \n\t

      Overseas Educators are mentors, role models, and leaders. They effectively provide support for students, explore and expand comfort zones, manage risk, advocate for optimal student health, and support logistics from transportation to budgets. They are ambassadors to local contacts and represent our community internationally. They bring heart, soul, and grit to a job that is challenging, rewarding, and multi-faceted.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

      We look for program leaders who are committed to facilitating growth in their students, their co-workers, and in themselves. For 3-5 weeks in the summer and 6-10 weeks during the spring and fall semesters, OEs assist students in navigating cultures and countries, learning how to be responsible travelers, and in developing effective interpersonal and communication skills.<\/p>\n

      If you feel you have the right balance of leadership and mentorship, travel sensitivity, cultural understanding, community living skills, risk management experience, \u00a0and a passion for working with students ages 15-18 (summer) or 17-22 (semester), we encourage you to apply for an Overseas Educator position.<\/p>\n

            Required Qualifications<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

              \n
            • Able to work legally in the U.S.; meaning you are either a U.S. citizen or possess a working Visa or Green Card
              \n<\/span>(Carpe Diem cannot hire individuals who are not eligible to work in the U.S., nor are we able to assist in obtaining work visas at this time.)<\/em><\/li>\n
            • Proficiency in Spanish for our Latin America semesters and summer programs<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Direct experience living, working or independently traveling in the regions for which you apply<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Professional experience leading or facilitating groups (preferably with students ages 14- 18 (summer) or 17 \u2013 22 (semester)<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Experience successfully working with a co-leader<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Current Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR certifications or ability to complete the courses pre-departure.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Valid Drivers License for our South Pacific, Hawai'i and Italy & Greece programs<\/span><\/li>\n
            • The typical age of our semester Overseas Educators is 26-35. We rarely hire staff younger than 24 for semesters or summers, as we are looking for candidates with professional experience working with youth and\/or working overseas.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                About The Application Process<\/strong>
                \nWhen your application is received it will first be reviewed by our hiring committee. Upon completion of their review, you\u2019ll either be invited to a 30-45 minute first round interview, or encouraged to reapply with more experience. After the initial interview you may be invited for a second, final interview.<\/p>\n

                Interviews will be conducted via Zoom (or -in-person if you're in Portland!) and generally take 60 - 90 minutes. While first round interviews are conducted on a rolling basis throughout the year, typically second round interviews for fall are conducted in April & May, for spring in October and November, and for Summer in February & March. If you are able to come in person we would be happy to conduct the interview whenever it works for you logistically. After your interview, you can expect to hear from us with final notifications by December for Spring hires, June for Fall hires, and April for Summer hires.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
